Foreign Secretary K Raghunath, who was to retire on November 30, has been given a one-year extension.

The decision was taken by the committee of the cabinet, an official release said.

Raghunath, who retired last November, was given a one-year extension by the I K Gujral government.

The 1962 batch IFS officer has held several important diplomatic postings abroad.
