Deaths, more sunstroke deathsThe murderous heatwave in Rajasthan claimed 21 more lives overnight, taking the death toll in the state to 86. Temperatures in Dholpur, which has been recording 49 degree celsius for the past three days, rose to 49.5 degrees celsius. Bharatpur, Churu and Gangana recorded 49 degree celsius. Seven people died in Alwar district, four people in Kota. Two deaths each were reported from Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur and Dholpur. Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Karuli, Pali, Barmer and Jaipur each recorded one death. In Tamil Nadu, two people died of heatstroke. Madras experienced the hottest day of the season: 43 degree celsius. Severe heatwave conditions also prevailed in parts of Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Andaman and Nicobar islands during the next 48 hours. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in parts of Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, and were above normal in parts of Orissa, north interior Karnataka and in parts of madhya Maharashtra and Kerala. They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh from where data was sparse.
