Rain brings respite in AndhraRain in parts of Rayalseema and Telengana in Andhra Pradesh offered respite to the people from the heat wave prevailing there for the past few weeks. Nandyal in Kurnool district recorded a rainfall of 10 cms, followed by Dharmavaram with 6 cms, Pullivendla with 5 cms and Nalgonda, Jagtiyal, Allagadda and Vempalli with 3 cms each. Hyderabad and its suburbs also received showers last evening and late Monday afternoon. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep, and at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, the plains of West Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, East Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 41.6 degree celsius was recorded at Hanamkonda and Rajkot today. Day temperatures were above normal in parts of sub- Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, coastal Orissa, Saurashtra and Kutch, Goa, coastal and northern interior Karnataka and Kerala. They were markedly below normal in interior Orissa, Bihar, plains of Uttar Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and appreciably below normal in the hills of West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, in parts of Vidarbha, Telengana and the remaining parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. They were below normal in parts of Gangetic West Bengal and the remaining parts of Vidarbha, and normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir from where data was sparse. Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in East Madhya Pradesh, at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Orissa, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, southern interior Karnataka and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Telengana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Very light rain occurred at isolated places in coastal Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
