Rain may give respite from heat wave

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir and at a few places in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Orissa, Bihar, East UP, north Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, south Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in south Gujarat and were appreciably above normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and were above normal in some parts of Orissa, east MP and Kutch.

They were markedly below normal in some parts in the plains of UP, Haryana, northwest Rajasthan and were appreciably below normal in Bihar, J&K, Punjab, and were below normal in some parts of coastal AP.

The highest maximum temperature of 45 degrees Centigrade was recorded at Jeur, Akola and Jalgaon in Maharashtra on Thursday.
