17 killed as bus carrying labourers plunges into gorge

At least 17 people were killed and 23 injured, some of them critically, when their bus skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Kishtwar town in Doda district last evening.

The bus was carrying labourers and supervisory staff of the Dulhasti hydro-electric project from Kishtwar to the project site, the police said.

The injured have been shifted to the sub-district hospital in Kishtwar.

Senior civil and police officials have rushed to the accident site to carry out rescue operations.
