Heat wave kills three in Maharashtra

Three people died of sunstroke in the last 24 hours in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district. Officials said two of the victims were from Bhusawal taluk while the third was from Jamner.

The city recorded 46 degree celsius.

Heat wave conditions also prevailed in parts of South Gujarat.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, parts of Central Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and northern interior Karnataka.

They were above normal in southern coastal Orissa, Konkan, Marathwada, Vidarbha, the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu and parts of Telengana and Rayalseema.

They were appreciably to markedly below normal in Bihar, hills of West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu, Northwest Rajasthan and parts of northern coastal Orissa, and below normal in southern coastal Andhra Pradesh.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and interior Karnataka from where data was sparse.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, hills of West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thundershowers are also likely to occur at isolated places in Andaman and Nicobar islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Orissa, plains of West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and southern interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Punjab, and at isolated places in Andaman and Nicobar islands, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Rajasthan, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
