Two women beheaded, 100 houses burnt in Kokrajhar

Two women were beheaded and about 100 houses burnt as ethnic violence continued in several villages of Assam's Kokrajhar district, official reports said.

On Tuesday, armed with deadly weapons, a large group of Santhals from two neighbouring tea gardens attacked the villages and set fire to houses. The affected villages were Naikgaon, Bangaldubi, Golajora, Haldongpara, Bachamari and Boropathar.

The army staged a flag march in the affected villages. Police pickets have been established in vulnerable areas.
