Rain brings little respite to heat-struck Telangana, Rayalseema

Despite rain at a few places over South Telangana and Rayalseema in Andhra Pradesh, the temperature continued to be appreciably above normal in the regions.

Ramagundem recorded the day's highest temperature of 44 degree celsius.

The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad had a bit of relief as the temperature came down by two degrees to 40 deg c.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan western Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, West Bengal, Orissa, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, South Central Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in parts of Konkan, Goa, interior Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka, and above normal in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Marathwada, parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

They were appreciably below normal in parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar, and below normal in the remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, hills of West Uttar Pradesh and southern interior Karnataka from where data was sparse.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of Kashmir, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Vidarbha, North Central Maharashtra, Telangana and Rayalseema.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at a few places in West Bengal, Sikkim and Telangana, and at isolated places in Orissa, Central Maharashtra and north interior Karnataka.

Very light rain occurred at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Haryana.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
