India to raise cross-border terrorism at G-15 summit

India will raise in unequivocal terms the issue of cross-border terrorism, like the one sponsored by Pakistan on its soil, at the eighth G-15 summit scheduled in Cairo from May 11 to 13.

Vice-President Krishna Kant will lead the high-level Indian delegation at the summit which is set to launch the G-15 Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry at the meeting.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, S T Devare, secretary (economic relations) in the external affairs ministry, said cross-border terrorism has been of great concern to India as well as to countries like Egypt, Peru and Algeria in the G-15 grouping.

''We hope our concerns will be highlighted in the joint communique to be adopted by the summit,'' he said.

Devare said high on the agenda of the summit would be issues like trade, investment, multilateral trading system and the recent currency crisis in South East Asia.

The summit had assumed significance since it is taking place just before the World Trade Organisation ministerial meeting in Geneva and the G-eight summit in Birmingham.
