Jaswant Singh is dy chairman of Planning Commission
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant
Singh has been appointed deputy chairman of the Planning
Commission.
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has accepted the resignation
of Professor Madhu Dandavate, who had sent in his papers on the eve
of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government being sworn in.
The prime minister has conveyed his appreciation for the
contribution made by Professor Dandavate and other members of the
Commission for their dedicated efforts to prepare the ground for
the Ninth Plan.
