State CPI-M Tripura secretary Manik Sarkar was unanimously elected leader of the Left Front legislature party in Agartala on Monday. He will also stake a claim to form the state government.

Sarkar, also a member of the CPI-M central committee, was elected leader of the legislature party at a meeting of the newly-elected MLAs of the Left Front. Deputy Chief Minister Baidyanath Majumder, who was elected state CPI-M secretary, presided over the meeting.
