Non bailable warrant against Prabhakar RaoThe execution of the non-bailable warrant against P V Prabhakar Rao, former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao's son, for noncompliance of summons from the Enforcement Directorate will need the Special Protection Group director's clearance, official sources said. On a complaint from the ED on February 28, the Hyderabad economic offences court special judge issued the warrant on Thursday evening, and directed the Andhra Pradesh director-general of police to produce him by April 1. The ED wants Prabhakar Rao to appear before it in connection with the Rs 1.35 billion urea scam. The DGP's office, which received the NBW from the court on Friday, has passed it on to the Hyderabad city police commissioner for execution. Police sources said the deputy police commissioner (west zone) was entrusted with the task. However, the Hyderabad police would need the permission of the SPG director, either over the telephone or in writing, before attempting to arrest Prabhakar Rao -- the SPG rules are absolutely clear that no person could enter the VIP's residence without such a clearance. Sources said the NBW could be cancelled if Prabhakar Rao made a suo moto appearance before the Hyderabad ED to record his statement. However, he has been evading for three months. UNI
