PMK extends outside support to BJP

The Pattali Makkal Katchi will extend support to the Bharatiya Janata Party from outside if the latter formed a government at the Centre, founder president Dr S Ramadoss said on Thursday.

He said his party's support would be unconditional and intended to provide a stable, clean and efficient administration in New Delhi.

The PMK has four seats in the Lok Sabha.

The party's decision follows All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and Progressive Democratic Front leader Jayalalitha Jayaram's decision to extend support to the BJP from outside. The AIADMK has bagged 18 of the 39 seats in the state. The front has a combined strength of 30 seats, and is the most crucial bloc in the BJP-led alliance.

On Wednesday, Dr Ramadoss had said his party would abide by Jayalalitha's decision with regard to the formation of a BJP government.
