Centre, states to fight ISI together

In the wake of the serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore and Bombay, the Centre has decided to conduct joint operations with state governments to check the increasing subversive activities of the Inter-Services Intelligence.

Home Secretary B P Singh told journalists in New Delhi on Thursday that a meeting of senior security officials and home secretaries of various states which were affected by the recent bomb blasts have been convened to chalk out a strategy to fight the ISI-sponsored subversive activities.

He said the magnitude of the problem was very large and ''it is necessary to give full attention to this type of incidents in which more than 65 people were killed in serial bomb blast at Coimbatore and Bombay on the eve of the election."

The home secretary admitted a nexus has been noticed in the blasts in Bombay and Coimbatore.

''The actors are different, but the mastermind is the same,'' he said.
