Mamata to support BJP from outside

Trinamul Congress leader Mamata Banerjee said her party would extend outside support to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"We want to see the good of the country," she said, "and that's why we have decided to support the BJP."

Earlier, Banerjee had ruled out the possibility of returning to the Congress or supporting any government which is backed by the Congress and the Left front, and hinted that her group of seven MPs would help the BJP assume power.

In an interview to a private television channel, she said her party must respect the people's verdict against the Communist Party of India-Marxist and the Congress.

Banerjee said her party would support a stable government which would work and protect the interests of West Bengal unlike a ''puppet government''.
