N D Tiwari resigns

Accepting "moral responsibility" for the Congress debacle in the Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh, UP party president Narain Dutt Tiwari resigned from his post on Tuesday.

In a letter to Congress president Sitaram Kesri, he urged the latter to accept the resignation with immediate effect and make alternative organisational arrangements.

Tiwari expressed his gratitude to Kesri, members of the Congress Working Committee, and partymen, for all co-operation extended to him during his tenure.
