Bal Thackeray turns down Manohar Joshi's offer to resign

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has turned down Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi's offer to resign, owning moral responsibility for the dismal performance of his party in the general election in the state.

According to sources close to Joshi, he called on Thackeray at the latter’s suburban home, Matushri, on Monday night and is understood to have submitted the letter offering to resign. However, Thackeray is understood to have advised Joshi against taking recourse to such a step, the sources said.
