Congress surges ahead in HP assembly poll

The Congress has won 18 of the 33 seats declared in Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. The Bharatiya Janata Party is not far behind with 11 seats.

The Himachal Vikas Congress, led by former Union communication minister Sukhram, bagged only four seats.

Polling was held for 65 seats of the 68-member assembly and three of the four Lok Sabha seats in the state on Saturday last.

Polling for the Mandi LS seat and three tribal assembly segments of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur and Bharmour was deferred till June 21 due to adverse weather conditions.
