Left parties to stage dharna outside ParliamentThe Left parties have decided to stage a dharna on July 3 outside Parliament against inflation and privatisation. A Communist Party of India-Marxist statement said Left leaders had decided that their MPs would join the dharna on the opening day and raise the issue in Parliament. The parties are also planning to mobilise the people in July against the government's 'anti-people and antinational policies.' Assessing the performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party government's 100 days in office, the CPI-M said the administration had proved to be 'disastrous' in all spheres. The rupee had hit a new low and the finance minister responsible for it was the same person who had 'mortgaged' the country's gold in his previous stint in the Chandra Shekhar ministry. The policies pursued by the government on nuclear and foreign relations, the statement said, had reversed some of the gains made by the country in earlier decades. The BJP was relentlessly pursuing its "communal agenda" aggressively aided by other outfits of the saffron brigade, thereby creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and insecurity. UNI |
