Pappu Yadav expelled

Bihar Samajwadi Party president Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav was on Friday expelled from the party for six years for his outbursts against party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Pappu Yadav had lost his head over Mulayam Singh's decision to form the Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha with the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal.

SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav also announced the dissolution of the party's Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan units to stem "ineffectiveness and growing factionalism."

Pappu Yadav was trying to destabilise the democratically elected government in Bihar in connivance with the central government, Ram Gopal alleged.

He threatened a nation-wide agitation if the Rabri Devi government was dismissed.

SP secretary general Kapil Deo Singh, however, said he had no information about Pappu Yadav's expulsion or the dissolution of the state units.
