Southwest monsoons sweep across the nation

Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, coastal Karnataka and Kerala during next 48 hours. The southwest monsoon has been active in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most of the places in the Andaman and Nicobar islands and Himachal Pradesh, many places in Lakshadweep, a few places in Assam and Meghalaya, Jammu and Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, coastal and south interior Karnataka and a few isolated places in plains of west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Very light rain has also occurred over hills of west Uttar Pradesh and west Madhya Pradesh. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in southwest Rajasthan and were above normal in remaining parts of Gujarat. They were appreciably to markedly below normal in Haryana, Punjab and north Rajasthan.
