Northewest India continues to reel under heatwave conditions

Heavy rains are likely to occur at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, the plains of West Uttar Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Kerala during the next 48 hours.

The southwest monsoon has further advanced into some parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and the hills of west Uttar Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and at many places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, in the plains of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Konkan, Goa and Lakshadweep and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and interior Karnataka and at isolated places over the rest of the country outside west Rajasthan were weather will be mainly dry.

The southwest monsoon has been actively in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and in the plains of west Uttar Pradesh. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in the Andaman and Nicobar islands coastal Karnataka, Kerala and at many places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada.

It has also been active in a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Vidarbha, Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Orissa, the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in the northern parts of Saurashtra and Kutch. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of north Gujarat and were above normal in some parts of north west Rajasthan. They were appreciably below normal in some parts of east Rajasthan, Haryana and were below normal in Kashmir.
