BJP calls for President's rule in Bihar

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday urged the imposition of President's rule in Bihar.

After visiting Bihar, BJP vice-president K L Sharma said the law and order in the state was deteriorating. Two MLAs had been killed while another was under judicial custody.

Sharma said he discussed the situation with prominent BJP leaders in Bihar. ''The law and order has completely collapsed. There is total breakdown of administration and the state is heading towards bankruptcy. Central aid is being diverted and misused,'' he alleged.

He urged the Centre to take a serious view of the situation -- if the present situation was allowed to continue, it might lead to gang wars.

The Centre should call for a detailed report from the state governor. Sharma said he would convey his observations to BJP president Kushabhau Thakare and Home Minister L K Advani on Tuesday when he returned to the capital.
