BJP issues whip to MPs over voting on railway budget

Bharatiya Janata Party's chief whip in the Lok Sabha and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana has issued a three-line whip to party members to be present in Parliament during voting on the railway budget on Tuesday.

A request has been made to leaders of other parties in the BJP-led coalition government to issue a similar whip to its members, a BJP release stated.

The members have been asked to remain in the house for the remaining session, as besides discussion on the general budget, some important legislative business is listed on the agenda of the house for this week.

Besides the Electricity Regulatory Commission Bill, Employees Provident Fund and Misl Provisions (amendment) Bill, the Payment of Gratuity (amendment) Bill, the Representation of People (amendment) Bill and the Merchant Shipping (amendment) Bill will come up for consideration and passing.

The Prasar Bharati (amendment) Bill is also likely to be taken up.
