Rainfall expected in northeast and other parts, heatwave unabated

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala, and Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Orissa, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, in the plains of west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka.

Heat wave conditions also prevailed in parts of Haryana, east Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and in the remaining parts of Orissa, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of gangetic West Bengal, Saurashtra, north Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka and were above normal in Kutch. They were below normal in the remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers have occured at most places in Assam, Meghalaya and at many places in Lakshadweep and at a few places in west Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka.

Very light rain has also occured at isolated places in Tamil Nadu. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
