Santhals attack Bodo villages, kill five women, two children

Santhal extremists killed seven Bodos, including two children, and critically injured eight others, mostly children, in Assam's Kokrajhar district last evening, official reports said.

The Santhals attacked Daimaguri, Sonapur, Tathalguri and Thuribari villages and hacked to death five women, a baby and a minor boy while the male members were out, the report said.

Senior civil and police officials rushed to the spot with additional forces and launched a search operation.

Official sources said the Santhals attacked the Bodo villages in retaliation against the killing of some members of their community by the Bodo militants some time ago.
