Monsoon rages in AndhraHeavy rain lashed most parts of Andhra Pradesh as the Southwest monsoon intensified due to low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, off the North Andhra coast, since Monday night. Madnuru in Nizamabad district recorded a heavy rainfall of 22 cms during the last 24 hours, followed by Vikarabad (K Ranga Reddy district) 15 cms, Parigi (Ranga Reddy) 12 cms, Madhira (Khammam), Tandur (Ranga Reddy), and Jagtiyal (Karimnagar) 11 cms each. Chevella (Ranga Reddy) received 10 cms of rainfall. Heavy rains are likely to occur at isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, Vidarbha, madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and coastal Karnataka. Rain or thundershowers occurred at most places in Orissa, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadeep, at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal and Kerala, at a few places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and at isolated places in West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat region. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, East Madhya Pradesh, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep, at a few places in Bihar, the plains of Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region and Tamil Nadu, and at isolated places over the rest of the country.
