Eleven killed in blast in Nalbari district

At least 11 people were killed and 19 critically injured in a bomb explosion by the suspected Bodo militants at the Dhamdhama weekly market in Assam's Nalbari district on Wednesday, official reports said. The injured have been admitted to a hospital.

The figure is likely to increase since floods and bad roads are hampering relief work. The police has yet to find out which militant outfit was involved in the explosion. But district additional superintendent of police B Bardolio said that it could have been a timer device. Senior civil and police officials with additional forces rushed to the spot and the area cordoned off.
