Seven killed in Pak shellingSeven people, including a girl and five security personnel, lost their lives in heavy artillery and mortar shelling by Pakistani troops. The incident occurred in in the Gurez and Uri sectors of north Kashmir in the past 36 hours. Five security personnel were killed by Pakistani shelling in the Gurez sector on the morning July 19. In militancy related incidents across the valley, four militants and one security personnel were among the eight people killed. Meanwhile, forces captured eight militants in the last 24 hours. An official spokesman said Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked artillery and mortar shelling across the border on Indian positions in the forward areas of Uri, early this morning. The shelling resulted in the death of 12-year-old girl at Isheam. He said shelling continued for several hours. However, there were no reports of any fresh casualty or damage to property in the sector. The spokesman also added that Ahmad Wani, who was critically wounded due to Pak shelling in the Uri sector on July 18, died in hospital this morning. He said four other injured persons were still undergoing treatmentin hospital. Official sources said Indian troops also retaliated and engaged Pakistani troops for several hours.
