There's a conspiracy to kill Swami Prakashananda: NayanarIn a startling revelation, Kerala Chief Minister E K Nayanar said he has received intelligence that a conspiracy is being hatched to "endanger" the life of Swami Prakashananda during his proposed indefinite fast before the state secretariat in protest against the government takeover of the Sree Narayana Mutt at Sivagiri, Varkala. Replying to a submission raised by Communist Party of India-Marxist legislator Anathalavattom Anandan in the state assembly, he said the police's intelligence wing mentioned in its report dated June 30 that a group of sanyasins owing allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh were planning to launch an indefinite fast again in front of the secretariat over the Mutt issue. This group, led by Swami Prakashananda (a former president of the mutt), had earlier observed an indefinite fast ''to wrest control of the Mutt.'' Nayanar said as part of the proposed agitation, it was reportedly decided to create trouble during the public functions of ministers. "The report said a conspiracy has been hatched to endanger the life of the swami during the course of the agitation by using potassium cyanide capsule,'' the chief minister said.
