Tripura MLA released by kidnappers

Tribal MLA and general secretary of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura, Debabrata Koloi, who was kidnapped last year, was released on Thursday after six months in captivity.

Police sources in Agartala said on Thursday evening that the MLA reached the Ganganagar police station and informed the police about his release.

Koloi, his bodyguard, and a senior government officer were kidnapped on July 31 by the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura extremists from a village in Dhalai district. The extremists demanded Rs 1 million for his release.
