52 injured in bus accident

At least 52 people, including 20 women, were injured on Thursday morning when a private bus carrying office-goers overturned near the Akashwani Bhavn in the heart of the capital.

The injured were rushed to the nearby Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. Ten of them had fractures, but all were out of danger, doctors said.

The accident took place around 0945 hours.

Police said the bus overturned after bus ran onto a divider. The driver fled the scene, but his assistant has been arrested.

The bus, plying from Pushpanjali Vihar to CGO complex, was carrying about 60 people.

An injured, B D Dhawan, blamed the driver for the accident, saying the passengers had sounded him for rash driving several times.

Most of the victims were employees of the Akashvani Bhavan, Rail Bhavan, Krishi Bhavan and Sena Bhavan.
