I have no intention of taking over the Congress leadership: Sonia
"I want to make it clear that I have no problem with the Congress president and I have no intention of taking over the leadership of the Congress party," Sonia Gandhi told Star News, in her first-ever television interview.
In a conversation with Star News correspondent Arnab Goswami at Delhi airport on her return from Sriperumbudur, she described her encounter in the town where her husband was assassinated, "as very sad and deeply painful." "The support and kindness the people showed me helped me," she said.
Sonia, who impressed viewers by her confidence and unexpected eloquence, smiled broadly when the television correspondent told her that Priyanka was the star of Sunday's show. Asked if Priyanka would accompany her throughout the campaign, Sonia shook her head and said, "No, maybe one more time." Would it be in Bangalore?" Goswami asked. "We don't know as yet," Sonia said, indicating that the decision was in the hand of her minders.
