Vigilance raid on Jacob's houses

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday raided former Kerala irrigation minister T M Jacob's homes in connection with the irregularities in the construction of the Kuriarkutty-Karappara project.

The raids, which began at 0100 hours simultaneously at Jacob's Thiruvanathapuram home and his ancestral home at Mannathur, near Koothattukulam, are still continuing.

Jacob and senior IAS officer N V Madhavan, who was the irrigation secretary during the Congress leader's ministership (Jacob belongs to the Joseph faction of the Congress) in 1991-96, were recently added to the list of the accused.

Two months ago, vigilance officials had raided Madhavan's home. He has been under suspension since then.
