Exit Poll gives youth vote to BJP

Rajiv Gandhi's decision to lower the voting age to 18 appears to have reaped rich dividends for the Bharatiya Janata Party this election.

As many as 35 per cent of young males and 33 per cent of young females, covered by the Exit Poll, opted for the BJP.

The Congress got 28 per cent of the male and female youth vote, while the United Front got 20 and 28 per cent of the male and female vote respectively.
