Exit Poll says BJP bridges rural/urban divide

Who says the Bharatiya Janata Party is an urban party?

According to Doordarshan's Exit Poll, almost an equal number of voters from urban and rural areas -- 35:34 -- voted for the BJP.

The Congress and United Front had similar appeal. While 29 and 28 per cent of urban and rural voters backed the Congress, 22 and 21 per cent of U/R voters backed the Front.
