Exit Poll: BJP likely to sweep Madhya Pradesh

The Bharatiya Janata Party might make a sweep of Madhya Pradesh, from where some of the Congress's top leaders are contesting, says the Doordarshan Exit Poll.

Out of 40 seats in India's largest state, the BJP is likely to win 30 seats, up 3 from the last time. It is likely to garner 45 per cent of the vote, a gain of three per cent.

The Congress will gain by a solitary seat to win 9; its vote share is likely to go up by 4 per cent to 35 per cent.

The loser is the Bahujan Samaj Party, which might win only one seat unlike the two it won the last time. The Janata Dal will not open its account in the state. Both the BSP and Janata Dal suffer a loss of one per cent in the vote share.
