Exit Poll: BJP-Sena, Congress likely to share honours in Maharashtra

Maharashtra is likely to split honours evenly between the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena and the Congress and its allies in the fight for the 48 seats.

The BJP-Sena, which holds 33 seats at present, is expected to lose nine seats to the Opposition, bringing down its tally to 24. However, its vote share is expected to go up by 4 per cent to 42 per cent.

The Congress, allied with the Samajwadi Party and the Republican Party of India, makes major inroads in the state it last three years ago. The allies are likely to win 24 seats, a gain of nine seats. The Congress vote share is likely to go up to 43 per cent, a rise of 8 per cent.

The Janata Dal suffers a loss of two per cent in its vote share, and others also suffer a loss of 10 per cent.
