Exit Poll: UDF gains 2 seats in Kerala

Kerala is witness to close electoral contests between two major fronts over the decades, and where a swing of one percentage point can make a difference between winner and loser.

The anti-incumbency factor has played a role and cost the ruling Left Democratic Front, led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist, dear. The LDF wins eight seats, two less than the 1996 result, according to Doordarshan's Exit Poll. Its voting percentage dips by two points to 43 per cent.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front has gained, winning the remaining 12 seats on 46 per cent of the votes, an increase of two seats and a percentage increase in votes.

While the BJP has made no headway in the state, its voting percentage rose by one per cent.
