Exit Poll: BJP gains at Congress's expense in Gujarat

The Congress party's decision to break its alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Party might just prove expensive and benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party.

According to the Doordarshan Exit Poll, the BJP can be expected to form the next government in the state. And in the Lok Sabha election, it is likely to win 21 of the state's 26 seats. The win represents an increase of 5 seats and a voter percentage swing of four per cent.

The BJP gains at the expense of the Congress, which might win just 5 seats this time, five less than the last and also suffer a four per cent decline in its vote share.

The Rashtriya Janata Party is not expected to have win any seats in the Lok Sabha election.
