Antulay's kin involved in Bombay blasts, charges Joshi

Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi on Monday alleged that former chief minister A R Antulay's relatives had a hand in the serial bomb blasts and Bombay riots of 1992-93, and demanded a detailed probe into it.

Addressing a press conference at his ancestral home in Nandvi in Raigad, he said some of Antulay's relatives were still under arrest in connection with the blasts and the riots.

Joshi said he had gleaned the information in the last few days from files and from people.

The state government had little scope in probing the case but it will order an investigation and pass on the information to the Centre for further action, he said.

Joshi's sensational allegations comes in the wake of many charges levelled against him during the election campaign by Antulay.

The chief minister also demanded a clarification from Antulay regarding "his connections" with those accused in the bomb blast case.

He said Antulay's relative Sheriff Abdul Gafoor Parkar is in jail for helping one Dawood Taklaya to go to Dubai to meet Dawood Ibrahim. Parkar's son Mujib was a telephone operator at Al Saba Court, Antulay's home on Marine Drive in Bombay, he said.

Parkar alias Dadabhai had also helped the main accused, Tiger Memon, in landing the explosives at Shekadi in Raigad district, Joshi said.
