It was great. Until the culprits are brought to book, all the good works of this genuine reporter are in vain. India has become a laughing stock among other countries, and is slowly climbing up the ladder as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. And what big deal can there be if the former PM of the country himself is the kingpin?

This is an article of deep truth and exposes the so-called GANDHI family, which has nothing in common to our BAPU. It also shows how people in power have corrupted the whole system for their benefit and why the name of the Gandhi family just stinks.

Ms Subramaniam has come out with an excellent article questioning the innocence of the 'Nehru' clan. As usual her points are very objective and after the truth of the murky deals. We stupid Indians have been kept too long in the dark and will continue to be ridiculed by politicians as long as we don't see the realities. Kudos to Ms Subramaniam -- a job well done AGAIN! Please try to get her article's message to the rural masses who are being led by bullying politicians.

Subject: Bofors gun booms again

High time we got down to the bottom of it all. Please continue with this trend. Let Sonia or someone else sue the lady in question if she is not correct.

Sonia has no position in the country. Why not only she, but her children also, are being mollycoddled? It is a shame that a dedicated person like Gulzarilal Nanda, who twice acted as the prime minister of this great country, was thrown out of a small flat on top of a shop, and here we are giving special accommodation to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

What sort of national representatives are these elected representatives of ours that they need special security moving amongst those who elected them? It is high time the country looked at this sort of things in the proper prospective. Whilst grudging equality of pension to the ex-servicemen who risked their lives which enabled these politicians to continue to exploit the nation, the country is incurring heavy expenditure to glorify these nobodies.

Excellent report. I guess I and my fellow patriotic countrymen are really proud of Chitra's work into investigative journalism, and in her fearlessness to search for the truth against someone so powerful as the first family. Raising issues of millions of my countrymen who drenched their blood to protect not only the useless politicians but fighting proxy wars with Pakistan, Naxalites and the Golden Temple is great.

We hope more journalists like her are there to protect our dear country instead of running the media like a one-sided business.

Subject: Chitra Subramaniam versus Sonia

I would like to question the writer for trying to be too ignorant of certain well known facts.

She says"Everybody questions Rabri Devi and ridicules her ordinariness. But what is the difference between Sonia Gandhi and Rabri Devi? As far as I can see, one is white and the other is brown."

She forgets another subtle difference. Sonia has the charm, the glamour, the charisma to attract people, does Rabri have the same? Is Rabri capable of saying or doing a single capable thing? How can the author forget the difference between an Oxford graduate and an illiterate? I would say that the author writes with hatred not with sense. After all masses are not fools. They do not gather in thousands (that is the response Sonia is getting) to have a glance of a no-one!

Subject: Chitra Subramaniam versus Sonia: The Bofors saga continues

It seems to me that Ms Subramaniam is going beyond her journalistic duties by attacking Sonia Gandhi's credentials as a politician. Her vendetta threatens to obfuscate the facts of the story (which she has dug out in a heroic fashion).

It asks one question -- how balanced and accurate her coverage and investigation of the Bofors scandal is? Perhaps Ms Subramaniam is eyeing the kursi herself?

I think Chitra is right in asking all those queries and her second last para, "We praise Sonia Gandhi as if she were the goddess of infinite wisdom and virtue and prime ministers clear Cabinet appointments with her and finance ministers allocate money to her foundations. Everybody questions Rabri Devi and ridicules her ordinariness. But what is the difference between Sonia Gandhi and Rabri Devi? "As far as I can see, one is white and the other is brown."

This article is excellent, there appears to be lot of truth in it. I appreciate you encouraging such articles, wherein you are trying to educate our people to move away from worshiping the Nehru clan as gods and goddesses.

I don't know when we all Indians will get the sense to think correctly, and take a sensible decision. I just cant bear the idea that a foreigner like Sonia is getting so much attention.

Sonia Gandhi is no better than Rabri Devi and less experienced in politics too.

Subject: This completes the picture of conspiracy in my mind

Sonia's entry in campaign appear to be a conspiracy by the Congress the and UF/LF against India. It is clear from her speeches, since the beginning, that she is just reading ready made speeches. Touching issues after issues but not able to answer even one counter question.

It means she is speaking under pressure. Pressure certainly is because of the pending Bofors probes. So, she just seems to be a puppet in the hands of power brokers.

It is time to make the masses aware of the conspiracy of the so called seculars - to whom secularism is a protection against their corrupt practices.

It will be an enlightening as well as exciting comparison. Could you get some more feedback on this comparison, from the general masses? Sample votes to come from Indians in villages, cities, US, etc.

Do you think Sonia has the educational, social and political background to lead a country like India into the next millennium?

Do you believe that she knew about the Bofors scam?

For Rabri: Her background?

Fodder scam?

Was she involved?

Subject: Bofors, Congress and Sonia

What is the surprise? A country gets what it deserves. The Sonia riddle can be easily explained by analysing how a country can be a slave for thousand years, take pride in its slavery and sing songs in praise of those who enslaved it. Sonia is nothing but a continuation of the slavery we Indians have got used to. Sonia Gandhi comes at a time when the country is busy in trying to preserve and laud the symbols of its thousand years of slavery.

Why blame and complain about Sonia Gandhi -- she is just a reflection of our own selves. As Subramanian concluded -- Sonia is white and Rabri is not. I would add Sonia is from outside and Rabri is not, Sonia is a symbol of those who ruled us for a thousand years and Rabri is symbol of Bihar, -- in all rational analysis Sonia stands way above Rabri (read any Indian).

Subject: Chitra Subramaniam On Sonia & Mr Q

Many prominent journalists in the English media have sold out their profession and have become self styled agents, advisors of the Congress and Sonia. Lure of money, favours, plots, flats, government sponsored medical treatment have taken its toll.

With this background, I remember the vigour of Chitra Subramaniam in 1988-1991 during her investigation of Gandhi connection in the Bofors case. She certainly is not from the BJP-RSS combine.

How many journalists today will show this kind of independent thinking? We should all learn from her rather than blindly follow Sonia.

I think Chitra Subramaniam and Co must stop wasting their time and fooling the Indian public. If they are so interested in figuring out who received the Bofors kickbacks, why did they stop publishing all that they published in 1989 after Rajiv lost the election?

What is more important to India and Indians right now is basic necessities for the poor like food , water etc...

Chitra along with N Ram was only were interested in seeing Rajiv out of power, and was sincerely not interested in determining who received the kickbacks. Rediff should stop publishing articles like this and save the faces of Indians living abroad.

A great article indeed! Especially the statement that she makes towards the end of the article comparing Ms Rabri Devi and Ms Sonia is just too good.

Excellent. I very much agree with the closing line. If there is any difference it is that Sonia is white and Rabri is brown. The Congress should be ashamed of itself to be projecting her as the prime ministerial candidate. But then they don't have any other leader!! I hope the best for India out of this elections. Your views are very impressive. I think in INDIA, we should all make use of the high levels of intelligence and not give into these politicians. From what I have seen all the powerful people are making use of the country rather than helping the country. I hope the day dawns when one has responsible people running the country rather than self centered people. Also politics is getting too family based and sentimental rather than intuitive and progressive.
