Opposition demands apology from Rabri

The Bihar legislative assembly was adjourned on Tuesday for half an hour following pandemonium from the Opposition.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party demanded unconditional apology from Chief Minister Rabri Devi for her remarks against the governor during the recent Khabardar rally, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha voiced its concern about the formation of a separate Jharkhand state.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist opposed the JMM's demand. They also expressed grave concern about the poor condition of roads in the state.

The Congress too demanded that the chief minister apologise to the governor.

Raising slogans in support of their respective demands, the Opposition rushed to the well of the House. Some even climbed on to reporters' tables.

Minor Irrigation Minister Vijay Krishna and Education Minister Jayprakash Narain's remarks that the governor had been "chocking democracy" in Bihar further added fuel to fire, forcing the speaker to adjourn the House till 1400 hours.
