Bhim Singh an eyewitness to attack on Baghdad

E-Mail this report to a friend

National Panthers Party president Bhim Singh was a witness to the ''most shameful and naked act'' of air strikes on Baghdad early Thursday morning by the United States and Britain.

In the city with a three-member team on a study tour, Professor Singh said he watched the missile attack by the ''neo-imperialist US-UK axis'' throughout the night.

Condemning the attacks, he said the aggression was to divert attention from the impeachment motion against US President Bill Clinton.

Secondly, the US and the United Kingdom wanted a place to experiment their latest weaponry; they found the people of Iraq their easiest victims.

The US also wanted to establish its hegemony over the Arab oil and the strategic Gulf waters by exploiting the Gulf countries, he alleged.

Professor Singh called on Baath party leaders and government officials to express solidarity with the people of Iraq, who had shown ''tremendous amount of courage and strength to face the attacks.''

Asserting the attacks totally violated the United Nations Charter and Security Council Resolutions, he urged the UN secretary general to stop the aggression.
