Cold wave in Kashmir

Cold wave conditions prevailed in Kashmir and parts of the plains of west Uttar Pradesh.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Orissa and coastal Tamil Nadu, and were below normal in south-central Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and parts of Haryana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

They were appreciably above normal in north-east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, south Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, and parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Marathwada, and Vidarbha.

They were above normal in Gangetic West Bengal, north Konkan, and the remaining parts of Vidarbha.

Night temperatures were normal in the rest of the country except for Arunchal Pradesh from where data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Lakshadweep and at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
