Pakistan's support to terrorism continues, Jaswant tells LS

External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh today informed the Lok Sabha that despite repeated requests from India, ''official Pakistani support'' to terrorists and organisations operating in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country continues.

"The government remains firm in its resolve to take all measures necessary to fully safeguard the country's security and territorial integrity,'' Jaswant Singh told Shankar Prasad Jaiswal during question hour.

The minister said India had also made known to the international community "Pakistan's sponsorship of terrorism". "And as a result of our efforts, there is a widespread international recognition of these activities, '' he added.

Replying to supplementaries, Jaswant Singh said regional and bilateral issues are not taken up for discussion with third parties.

He said Pakistan's sponsorship of terrorism against India did come up for discussion during his talks with US officials.

Prime Minister A B Vajpayee intervened to declared that his government does not allow protocol to come in the way of meaningful dialogue (with Pakistan).
