Advani claims 'a measure of success' against ISIUnion Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani today said the government had 'achieved a measure of success' against Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence and a white paper on its activities in India was likely to be tabled in the current session of Parliament. Speaking to the media at Calcutta on his way to Aizawl where he would inaugurate a new airport, Advani, however, declined to elaborate on the nature of success. He stated that over the past 15 years this organisation had 'spread its tentacles' all over the country. ''We shall respond appropriately to this proxy war. We are now trying to neutralise their activities. All political parties are unanimous that the country needs to be made conscious of the ISI's activities." He said the Centre was interacting with the states on this. The first meeting of the newly-formed standing committee of the home ministry would be held on December 19 while the Inter-State Council would meet in January, he added. Advani, however, declined to comment on whether the government had any "blue print" to tackle the ISI and also refused to spell out if any politician of the country had any ties with it. Everything would be revealed in Parliament, he added. UNI
