The recommendations were accepted in totowith minor changes by the CWC, presided over by party president Sonia Gandhi. They will be placed for final approval before the All India Congress Committee on December 18.

The committee's major recommendations include 33 per cent reservation to women and 20 per cent to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and minorities in party posts, and extension of the tenure of membership and office-bearers from two to three years.

The expansion of the CWC from 21 members to 25 is another decision. The strength of the Congress Parliamentary Board would also be increased.
