50 burnt alive in Bihar as bus collides with kerosene tanker

At least 50 passengers were burnt alive and 10 seriously injured when the private bus in which they were travelling collided head-on with a kerosene tanker at Dhangai village, 40 kilometres from Bhojpur district, Bihar, early today.

All the victims were rushed to Jagdishpur hospital, two kilometres from the accident site. Most of them were in a serious condition, the police said.

While the bus was proceeding to Patna from Bhabua, the oil tanker was coming in the opposite direction.

Bhojpur district police sources said that District Magistrate Hukum Singh Meena and Police Superintendent R K Mullik have rushed to the spot.

The cause of the mishap was not known. Details were awaited.
