E-Mail this report to a friend

The Supreme Court today deferred till December 18 the hearing on the bail petitions of former Bihar chief ministers Laloo Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra as well as four others accused in the Rs 9,500 million fodder scandal.

The hearing was deferred by a three-judge bench comprising Justice G T Nanavati, Justice S P Kurdukar, and Justice K T Thomas, as the Central Bureau of Investigation sought time till December 17 to submit all the documents it is using in the trial court which is hearing the fodder scam cases.

The court also adjourned till December 18 the hearing on an application bringing to its notice the preferential treatment being allegedly given to the two former chief ministers in jail.

Yadav, Dr Mishra, Rashtriya Janata Dal legislator R K Rana, former minister Chandradeo Prasad Verma, former animal husbandry director Ramraj Ram and former minister Vidyasagar Nishad have appealed to the Supreme Court against the Patna high court's order dismissing their bail applications.
